A legislative amendment passed by State Parliament this week makes way for the Jindee development in Perth’s north to be built with a ground-breaking new style of planning framework.
The proposal for Jindee is an unprecedented agreement between the Estates Development Company (EDC) the WA Planning Commission and the City of Wanneroo.
The unique estate will not follow a ‘clear and level’ approach but will instead be planned with respect to the natural contours of the land, which includes preserving sandhills.
EDC managing director Fiona Roche said the characteristics of the 120 hectare site would allow the estate to be built closer to the coast than recent developments.
“Jindee will be built on an undulating lot that encompasses one of the highest ridges along the metropolitan coastal strip and a rocky headland that provides a foundation for development closer to the coast than in lower and less stable areas,” she said.
Jindee is located on Marmion Ave, 37 kilometres north of Perth’s CBD.
