The agreement of a land exchange proposal has been reached between the Estates Development Company (EDC), WA Planning Commission (WAPC) and the City of Wanneroo to enable the development of a unique beachside village near Butler.
Closer To The Beach
The shared vision for the Jindee beachside development is the creation of a community lifestyle that has close interaction with the surrounding beach and landscape.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said that the development will provide Perth’s north-west corridor with amenities that generations of Western Australians have enjoyed at locations like Cottesloe.
“The coastline in this area includes a rocky headland, enabling development closer to the coast that would not be possible on a sandy beach,” Ms MacTiernan said
“The beach itself, and the edge of the headland, will be retained for public use, so there will be a continuous reserve along the coast.”
Approximately eight hectares of coastal parks and recreation reserve will now be exchanged for an equal amount of adjoining urban zoned land, which would enable the Jindee development.
Ms MacTiernan said that the exchange means that new parks and recreation reserves can be created, allowing important environmental linkages to be protected and avoids parking for beach-goers being built within coastal dunes.
