Jindee is now the first land development in Western Australia with a comprehensive form-based code planning approach to receive approval from local government.
Estate Development Company (EDC) Project Manager James Blitz said it is a whole new planning approach for suburban development in WA, based on embracing existing landforms and the natural environment.
“This is especially important for a coastal development like Jindee, nestled in the sand hills, and seeking to ensure the eventual residents enjoy a natural linkage to the local environment and coastal features,” Mr Blitz said.
Westminster Estates has owned the Jindee land since 1978 and the area features a unique combination of rocky outcrops, reefs and dunes running perpendicular, rather than parallel, to the coast.
“This creates a natural amphitheatre where almost all of the area looks to the coast and ocean,” Mr Blitz said.
“This was the starting point when the company embarked on creating Jindee as an alternative, innovative and progressive model for a very special coastal development.”
