Jindee Locals – A builder’s own home.
As our vibrant coastal community continues to grow, we asked Jindee purchaser, Brian to give us his insight into the building design process of his Jindee forever home.Being both a Senior Design Consultant for Content Living and a Mortgage Broker, Brian has extensive knowledge in the building and design processes involved in creating a high-quality and bespoke home.
“I have a background in finance, but my wife and I have been buying and investing in the property market for over 25 years. I decided to jump the fence to designing custom and high-quality homes at Content Living for about 1 year and I really enjoy working with a product I believe in.”
Working with clients across the Perth Metro area, Brian has gained comprehensive insight into the current playing field of new land developments in WA. Brian snapped up one of the exclusive natural living lots in Jindee’s first release to build his dream home with his wife, Ava and teenage children. It was Jindee’s unique architecture and premium qualities that captured Brian’s attention against the rest of the new developments exploding across Perth’s northern and southern corridors.
“Working in the building industry I see every block of land around Perth. Jindee is a very different estate from what I’ve seen around. It’s the architectural style and how it’s being maintained for the future of the estate that makes it stand out from the rest.”
Brian’s passion for designing homes has been utilised in his own Jindee house design. Catering to the indoor/outdoor lifestyle and the high-quality specifications involved in the Jindee Architectural Standards, Brian has found many favourite elements in his design
“Obviously, I’ve designed my house with Content Living. My favourite elements in my house design include the double projecting front with verandah in the middle, recessed high ceilings and open plan layout that allows for the maximisation of natural light in the house, these are all the things that weren’t considered in my old house.”
Optimising the coastal surrounds of his natural living lot, the indoor space in Brian’s home has been designed to capture the warm sunlight, cooling sea breeze, and connect with highly functional outdoor spaces that become extensions to the home – making it much more spacious and enjoyable for Brian and his family.
“To make the most of the natural light we decided on a large main living area at the centre of the home that connects to two separate outdoor areas. The main living area is split from the front and backyard through recessed sliding doors with access to the verandah at the front and alfresco at the back. We also have a private courtyard that connects to our master suite and overlooks the pool at the front.”
While there are many elements you must consider when designing your dream home, with Brian’s lot being uniquely elevated to maintain the natural topography of the coastal dunes, there were special design requirements that had to considered, particularly in the front verandah’s design and functionality.
“The key elements we had to consider include the double projecting front as we had special design requirements for our lot. We also had to consider how to connect the living areas and outdoor space for integrated living, especially with the pool being located at the front of our home and how we will use that space like adding a bistro table to the front verandah.”
Along with the verandah design, the layout features cannot be overlooked in the design process for your Jindee home, not only for architectural merit but to reflect and enhance your lifestyle. Brian paid close attention to how his family live and what wasn’t thought out properly in his previous house to maximise functionality. “As we have special requirements for our lot the verandah was a very important feature. The high-quality specs like high ceilings, storage space and kitchen fit-out were also considered when designing the home.
Other features we focused on include, maximising natural light throughout the home, the separation of the master suite from family activity, separate yard space with boat parking next to the garage so it’s screened from view, a decent entertainment area with a separate kid wing, a nice study as I work from home often and of course a man cave garage!”
After concentrating on the key layout elements for livability, Brian also factored in luxury upgrades to his house design. As the Jindee Architectural Standards already accommodate to a high-quality building specification to maintain a premium coastal neighbourhood, adding a few extra upgrades are a great way to boost value and personal flair to the home. “Our home design already had to be upgraded to Jindee Spec due to the architectural standards catering to high quality materials and specifications such as 35 course high ceilings and we also got decent inclusions from Content Living.
The features we upgraded are important elements like glass sliding doors, a server window to the open pergola, raked ceilings on the verandah, four wheeled drive space in the garage and a free-standing bath in the master suite.”
The Jindee Architectural Standards cater to timeless and relaxed coastal homes that each have their own individual charm and design influence. “The idea of the old-school houses was partly an inspiration when designing our home. The Jindee Town Architect, Julie spoke about farm housing being done in a way that’s timeless – old but timeless. It’s about incorporating the best of what worked before.
We were also inspired by making the most of our lot and how we will live, like sitting on our verandah”
As Jindee continues to grow, the coastal community thrives, each resident adding to the unique and vibrant neighbourhood. The emphasis on livability and encouraging social interaction amongst residents is already demonstrated as you stroll around the first releases and will continue throughout the entire estate. As Brian has a love for cycling, he looks forward to accessing well-lit cycle and pedestrian paths so he and his future neighbours can enjoy an active lifestyle in a safe and friendly neighbourhood.
“What I would like to see in the Jindee community is lighting, lots of lighting for the cycle and foot paths around the estate. Other than that, Jindee has already thought of it all, I trust the Jindee vision.”
With the Jindee vison focusing on creating a connected community and making the most of the unique coastal location, Brian looks forward to a more laid-back way of life in his bespoke dream home. Being able to cycle around the tree-lined streets for a coffee on the beach, relying less on a car with the train station only 600m away and watching the sunset with his family every afternoon from their own verandah.
“We can’t wait to live in our beautiful custom designed home close to the beach! We see Jindee as a reward place and an upgrade from our current home and suburb.”
